Somatic Coaching

I offer a gentle, supportive approach to personal healing and growth for individuals, rooted in Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology. This method blends mindfulness, somatic awareness, and compassionate self-inquiry. Together, we'll explore your present-moment experience, cultivate somatic resources, and uncover the deep connections between your mind and body, all at your own pace. This work deepens your felt sense of the body and emotions, fostering a richer, more integrated sense of self.

Our bodies hold the core beliefs we’ve acquired through early experiences in childhood and beyond, including negative beliefs about ourselves and the world. By tuning into our moment-to-moment embodied experience, we can access these unconscious beliefs. As we become aware of these limiting beliefs and patterns, we create the space for them to shift and transform. Our psyches have a natural capacity to heal when given supportive conditions and loving presence. This gentle somatic processing leads to greater self-awareness, healing, and well-being, fostering a fuller, more authentic sense of self.

Hakomi Principles
The five principles of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology guide and inform my work, creating a foundation for a safe and transformative coaching experience:

  1. Mindfulness: cultivating present-moment awareness to explore inner experiences with curiosity and acceptance. This involves slowing down to deeply observe and understand your sensations, thoughts, and emotions, which helps reveal underlying patterns and supports profound insights.

  2. Non-Violence: creating a safe and respectful environment, honoring your pace and process with patience and kindness, and without judgment.

  3. Organicity: trusting in your inherent wisdom and natural process of growth and healing, allowing changes and transformation to unfold organically.

  4. Unity: embracing the interconnectedness of all parts of your being, the client-practitioner relationship, and our connection with all beings, we support every part of yourself to harmonize into a cohesive whole.

  5. Mind-Body Holism: recognizing that both mind and body reflect and shape your understanding of yourself and the world, influencing your sense of self and both internal and external experiences.

Benefits of Somatic Coaching

Through this work, you can experience reduced stress and anxiety, enhanced self-resourcing, and improved nervous system regulation. You'll also cultivate a richer emotional experience, gain greater awareness of the various parts of yourself, and develop a deeper, more authentic sense of self. By learning to feel more at home in your body, you'll access inner wisdom, peace, and safety, enabling you to show up as your best self in your life, career, and relationships.

Session Format
I offer both in-person sessions (at my home studio office in north Oakland, CA) and online sessions via Zoom. Remarkably, somatic coaching can be highly effective even when conducted online! Sessions are generally 50 minutes long and can be scheduled weekly, biweekly, or on occasion, depending on your needs and preferences.

Rates

I use a sliding scale to make my services accessible to a diverse range of people. My standard rate is $130 per session, with a sliding scale starting at $80. This approach acknowledges the varying financial resources and privileges among those seeking support. By offering flexible pricing, I aim to ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, has the opportunity to benefit from somatic coaching. Your contribution not only sustains this practice but also helps make these services available to others in need. (Unfortunately, I am unable to accept insurance.)

What I Do Not Offer

  • Clinical diagnosis

  • Pharmaceutical prescriptions

  • Psychotherapy

If you are seeking these services, I encourage you to connect with a provider who is trained and licensed to offer them. My practice focuses on providing mindful and somatic coaching to support your personal growth and healing in a non-clinical context.

“Mira is a uniquely compassionate, intuitive and gifted Hakomi practitioner. I've been fortunate enough to witness her development over the years, and I've come to trust her completely. Her level of attunement to my process is deep and nuanced, and she guides our sessions so effortlessly that it always feels like they go exactly where they need to go. She asks questions that get to the heart of what's going on, and guides me towards my embodied truth with gentleness, clarity and humor. I come out of our sessions with new insights and a deeper connection to my own resources.” – Kristin M.

"As a Hakomi Teaching Assistant, I had the privilege of witnessing Mira in her element. As a year 2 student, it was evident that she has a depth and attunement with clients that is innate in her somatic presence and nuanced awareness of what's most alive for the client in a given moment. I found myself learning from her as much, if not more, as supporting her. I have no doubt about Mira's ability to support and guide clients on their somatic healing journey as she continues to embody her many talents as a somatic practitioner." – Christina G.
