My Journey
I have had a Buddhist insight meditation practice for over 20 years, and I have explored many forms of movement, primarily Argentine tango, but also various partner dances, yoga, contact improvisation, and dance improv performance, among other movement forms. For over 10 years, I've taught Argentine tango, which is at its core a practice of deep listening, connection, and attunement. My experience teaching dance sparked my interest in the healing potential of movement and somatic practices. In recent years, I dedicated myself to studying Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology, a gentle and supportive method for personal healing and growth.
My personal journey towards inner healing took a deep dive in 2020, during a challenging time in my life marked by the ending of a long-term relationship, the pandemic, social unrest, and intense wildfires near my home in California. These experiences left me feeling heartbroken, alone, and full of doubt. Working with skilled somatic practitioners, I learned to feel my emotions in my body rather than jumping to my mind to try to “figure them out.” I discovered how to resource myself and take care of myself when I felt at “rock bottom,” which to me felt like lying alone at the bottom of a slow, cold river. I learned to be with grief and fear and to understand how emotions and experiences get stuck in our bodies and passed down through generations.
Through studying Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology, I have deepened my own practice and healing, uncovering parts of myself—both protectors and wounded parts—and understanding what those parts need. This journey has led me to more joy, expansiveness, and well-being.
As a mindfulness teacher and somatic coach, I strive to share the tools and lessons I’ve learned with my students and clients, whether in group or individual settings, so that they may experience growth, ease, and well-being in their lives. I help people embrace their feelings, feel more deeply, and become more present in their bodies. Using mindfulness to deepen into the present experience, I work to meet you where you are and support you on your unfolding journey. My aim is to guide individuals toward leading more mindful and embodied lives. Both through tango and this work, I aspire to bring joy, connection, and healing to everyone I work with.
